COMMON QUESTIONS

Here we offer answers to some of the most common questions we receive here at Chatting Children Speech & Language Center. If you don’t see your specific question below, or would like more detail, please don’t hesitate to use the contact form. We’re glad to help!

Does my child need speech and language therapy?

Because every child develops differently, this question can be best answered by a certified speech-language pathologist. Please feel free to contact us with specific questions about your child and we can then determine if speech and language therapy is needed.

How do I get started?

Call Chatting Children today to describe your child’s current speech and language needs. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule for either an initial evaluation or to commence therapy right away.

What should I tell my child?

Many parents have asked us this in the past and because our approach is very play-based, we recommend telling them they are going to play with a friend who will help them with their speech or language.

What should I bring to the initial session?

Please download and complete the 4 forms listed under the “FORMS” tab above and bring to your initial session. Please also bring any recent evaluations or a current Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Do I stay throughout my child's session?

We ask you to stay for the first session and thereafter, you are welcome to wait outside of the treatment room or you may drop your child off. If you choose to do a drop off, it is imperative that you return 10 minutes prior to the end of the session.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not have the ability to accept insurance at this time. Parents are encouraged to submit to insurance independently. Please retain the initial evaluation, treatment notes and invoices for your insurance company. Should you require additional information, we are happy to assist you with this process. Please refer to our Policies and Procedures (which can be found under the “FORMS” tab above) for billing information.

How much therapy is needed for my child?

We typically treat children 1-2 times per week for 50 minute sessions depending on the needs of your child.
